Hard Times Call for Deeper Connection
Learn about the Spring Mindfulness Cohort this coming Monday, Jan 27
Hi friends,
It’s been over six months since I last connected with you, and what a heavy start to the year it has been.
In the coming weeks, we’re likely to see the expansion of the carceral state, with policies that round up immigrants and rely on prison system as the infrastructure to house them and mass surveillance and policing to expand fear, distrust, and confusion.
In times like these, I’m reminded of the women I’ve worked with in prison.
Their hope is different from what many of us on the outside know—it’s a hope forged through community, resilience, and finding strength within. They remind me that even in the darkest times, there is always possibility and surprise.
This brings me to my invitation for you:
Not to take to the streets, but to take care of yourself. To find a way to be of service that also nurtures your heart.
The impulse for many right now is to retreat. But the opposite will serve us all so much better. Join me and others as we create a small community of reflection and practice that holds space for despair along with hope along with action.
I invite you to join the next cohort of our meditation and letter-writing program.
This program connects people on the outside with women on the inside through an anonymous letter exchange, fostering connection, understanding, and shared humanity.
